C-V2X at the Helm: NCKU and Chaoying Spotlight Value-Creation Results at the 2025 ITS World Congress

🚗 C-V2X Showcase: Advancing Road Safety and Transportation Efficiency

Chaoying Technology Highlights Smart Transportation Innovations at the ITS World Congress

Chaoying Technology, together with the Intelligent Transportation Research Center, presented a suite of C-V2X (Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything) solutions at the ITS World Congress in Atlanta, demonstrating Taiwan’s R&D strength in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
As a core technology for connected mobility, C-V2X enables real-time communication among vehicles (V2V), infrastructure (V2I), pedestrians (V2P), and networks (V2N), paving the way for safer and more efficient transport.

🚦 Featured Applications

On site, Chaoying showcased multiple real-world C-V2X use cases, including:

  • Vulnerable Individual Protection Services (VIPS): AI-based detection and alerts to enhance pedestrian safety.

  • Transit Signal Priority (TSP, incl. school buses): Improving the operating efficiency of public and school bus services.

  • Emergency Vehicle Signal Priority (EVSP): Allowing ambulances and fire trucks to send V2X preemption requests to signal controllers, accelerating emergency response.

  • Eco-Driving Assistance: Leveraging signal timing and predictive analytics to support energy-efficient driving.

These demonstrations not only raised international visibility for Taiwan’s smart mobility capabilities but also showcased the practical value of C-V2X in improving both road safety and operational efficiency.

🌐 Global Insights: C-V2X, Standardization, and Platform Integration Lead the Way

This year’s ITS World Congress underscored a global shift toward C-V2X connectivity and infrastructure readiness, highlighting its importance for autonomous driving and smart mobility. At the same time, smart-city integration has become mainstream—linking transportation with energy, public transit, and digital governance platforms.

Three Key International Observations

  1. Standardization & Interoperability
Countries are accelerating safety regulations and technical standards to enable V2X deployment.
The U.S. DOT-backed V2X-Hub open platform exemplifies modular, vendor-agnostic interoperability, while NTCIP standards remain foundational for cross-manufacturer communication in ITS infrastructure.

  2. Platformization & Policy-Driven Integration
European vendors such as Yunex Traffic are integrating signal control, V2X communications, AI detection, and data services into unified platforms.
Europe’s policy agenda emphasizes sustainability, carbon reduction, and urban planning, positioning ITS within a holistic smart-city ecosystem.

  3. Advanced Sensing & AI Adoption
    AI-powered sensing is now mainstream.
Examples include Iteris’s radar-vision fusion and DENSO’s LiDAR + edge monitoring, reflecting rapid advances in precise perception and situational awareness.

🇹🇼 Taiwan’s Opportunities and Outlook

Participation in the Congress elevated Taiwan’s visibility in the global ITS arena and validated the industry–academia–startup collaboration model.

Key directions for Taiwan’s next stage:

  • Deepen Capabilities & Align with Standards
Advance C-V2X with AIoT integration while proactively aligning with international standards for global interoperability.

  • Platformization & Cross-Domain Integration
Move beyond hardware-centric deployment (e.g., RSUs, signal controllers) to emphasize data platformization, system integration, and linkage with sustainability strategies.

  • Leverage Taiwan’s Core Strengths
Harness Taiwan’s advantages in semiconductors, ICT, and software services to expand international partnerships and accelerate commercialization.

Chaoying Technology will continue investing in C-V2X and smart transportation, building cross-border partnerships to strengthen Taiwan’s innovation momentum and global competitiveness in the ITS field.
